Willie Fred Grant, Jr., 71, of Middletown, husband of Lottie (James) Grant, passed away at home with family by his side on May 17, 2023. Born in Eufaula, AL, he was the son of the late Willie Fred, Sr. and Versie Mae (Wiley) Grant.
Willie lived in Middletown most of his life graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Manufacturing for forty-one years. Willie loved fishing, basketball, and football, especially the Philadelphia Eagles.
Along with his wife, he is survived by three sons, Christopher D. James, Kamau L. Grant and Kareem O. Grant, all of Middletown; a daughter Sheanetta R. James of Middletown; two brothers, Clarence Payton of Haines City, FL and Wilbert C. Grant of Rochester, NY; four sisters, Linda Thompson of Waldorf, MD, Glenda Malone of Haines City, FL, Vivian Randall of Rochester, NY and Versie Vernessa Grant of Haines City, FL and his aunt Earlene Grant of Middletown. Willie also leaves nine grandchildren, Christopher, Jr., Tyler, Jaquan, Rasan, Dashaun, Rakim, David, Janeya and Jazlyn; two great grandchildren; a Godsister, Leslie Shell of Middletown; a Godbrother Depressly McCaw of Southington and a Goddaughter Fonda Davis of Middletown.
Besides his parents, Willie was predeceased by a brother Kenneth Grant and a sister Mary J. Grant.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 26th at 11:00 am at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 346 Butternut Street, Middletown. Burial will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded. Family and friends may call before the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church.
