William Ginter, 85, of Cromwell, husband of the late Carlene (Adams) Ginter, passed away at his home on July 6, 2021. Born in New Haven, he was the son of the late Harold and Doris (Smith) Ginter.
Bill lived in Cromwell for over forty years and was a member of Third Congregational Church in Middletown where he sang in the choir. He worked as a Civil Engineer for the Connecticut Department of Transportation for thirty years and for Fuss and O’Neil for five years where he acquired his Professional Engineer license. Bill was an avid sports fan, card player, and a voracious reader. He enjoyed walking, vacationing in Maine and travelling extensively. Bill will be remembered as an active, reserved, quiet and caring person.
Bill is survived by his son, William C. Ginter and his wife Mary-Ellen of Wallingford; his daughter, Deborah L. Ginter and partner Steven Thody of Middlefield; his companion, Anne Broyles of Cromwell; two stepsons, Morris Blake and Michael Blake and his wife Heidi, all of Meriden; two brothers, Harold E. Ginter, Jr. and David Ginter and his wife Sandra, all of North Haven; six grandchildren, Lindsey Atwater, Kenney Ginter, Julia Stephens, William C. Ginter, II, Brian Ginter and Sammi Geisman-Ginter and several great grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife, Bill was predeceased by a son, Barry S. Ginter and a grandson, Michael Atwater.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 10 at 11:00 am at Third Congregational Church, 94 Miner Street, Middletown. Burial will follow in Miner Cemetery.
Family and friends may call before the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Third Congregational Church.
