Obituary

Walter James Foster, 66, of Cromwell, husband of Rev. Jacqueline L. Watford-Foster, passed away on August 13, 2023. Born on February 2, 1957, in Montgomery, Alabama, he was the son of Annie Ruth (Dixon) Foster of Middletown and the late Walter Lee Foster.

Walter lived in Middletown most of his life where he attended Middletown High School and graduated. He worked as a welder and then in a graphics manufacturing company for many years. He was an avid sports fan and especially a fan of LeBron James. He considered Michael Jackson the greatest entertainer in the world. He also loved Southern cooking, especially his mom’s sweet potato pie, chocolate cake, banana pudding, cheesecake, and potato salad.  To Walter no one was a stranger, he was well known, and he loved people.

Along with his wife and mother, Walter is survived by his two daughters, Bernadette Raynor and her husband Eric of Middletown and Jasmine Taylor-Jones of Middletown; a brother, Nathaniel Foster; a sister, Annie Louise Foster, both of Montgomery, AL; four grandchildren, Kadijah Belair (Spencer), Jájuan Raynor, Kairo McFarlane and Kyrie McFarlane; one great grandchild, Skylar Belair; Aunts and Uncles George Dixon, Joseph & Nettie Chappell, Edward & Bernice Chapell, Randie Chappell, Yancey Felder, and Pearl Provitt, all from Montgomery; his four special nephews;  Curtis Foster (Heather) “who is like a brother”, Jevon Foster, Paris Foster, Roderick Foster (Eve) and a host of nieces and nephews.

Besides his father, Walter was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Walter Lee Foster Sr., and Virginia Foster; his maternal grandparents, Rebecca Chappell and Jack Dixon; his brothers Preston and Perry Foster, and his aunts Ella Felter and Florence Green.

A service will be held on Monday, August 21.  Calling hour 10:00 am to 11:00 am, homegoing service at 11:00 am at Zion First Baptist Church, 16 James A. Moses Avenue, Middletown.
