With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Walter J. Bartoszewicz (81) on February 6, 2026.
Walter was born and raised in Middletown. After attending Vinal Technical School, and proudly serving our country as a crewman in the Navy during Vietnam, he returned to Connecticut and settled back in Middletown, working as a Tooling Coordinator at Pratt & Whitney for 27 years.
He enjoyed anything with an engine, especially his Subaru Tribeca, shooting pool both in person and virtually, music that could make you cry, visiting Stop & Shop daily, sometimes multiple times per day, any and all desserts, and spoiling his daughters and granddaughter.
Walter had an astute mechanical mind and could fix anything. He had the gift to understand how complex things fit together. He had a particular affinity for model aeronautics, formerly a member of the Middlesex Aero Modelers club, with an R/C fleet capable of protecting a small town or city.
Walter often referred to himself as a troublemaker, but behind that mischievous exterior was a caring and generous man, willing to give you the shirt off his back, even his long sleeve shirt in the summer. We will all miss that little bit of trouble in our lives.
Walter is survived by his wife Judy Bartoszewicz; daughter Wendy Bartoszewicz and granddaughters Maelyn of Glastonbury and Alexa of East Lyme; daughter Rebecca Boss and husband Jordan of Middletown; sister Mary Reynolds of Middletown; sister-in-law Susan Bartoszewicz of Texas; lifelong friend Arthur Collins of Higganum; cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Stella (Sennik) Bartoszewicz, brother Stanley Bartoszewicz, brother Michael Bartoszewicz, and brother-in-law John Reynolds.
All arrangements will be under the direction of Doolittle Funeral Home in Middletown, CT. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, February 17th, at 11:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Middletown, followed by burial with military honors in the State Veterans Cemetery. Family and friends may call Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 am at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
