Tyrone Keith Hunter Obituary
Tyrone Keith Hunter, 66, of Middletown, passed away on July 18th, 2026.
Tyrone will be lovingly remembered for his profound love for his family, his passion for golf and “The Port” (Newport, Rhode Island), his unwavering support for the New York Yankees and the New York Giants, his immense intelligence and passion for music including Tower of Power, James Taylor, Earth Wind and Fire, and many others.
Tyrone battled a rare neurological condition known as Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), which gradually affected his brain function. Despite the challenges he faced, he maintained his sense of humor by gleefully tickling or commenting on his chatterbox grandsons with a smile that lit up his entire face. Even in hospice, his prankster personality persisted as he hid behind his hospital door to startle the nurses.
He is survived by his two daughters, Jasmine Hunter, who resides in Middletown with her son Jordan, and Kate Hunter, who resides in the Philadelphia area with her son Blake. He is survived by his siblings Patricia, Reginald, Charlotte, Phillip, and Lori, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he cherished. His spirit now joins his deceased parents, William (Willie) and Lillian, and siblings Lillian (Cookie), Richard (Butchie), and William Jr (Willie).
Services will be held on Friday August 7th at Doolittle Funeral Home on 14 Old Church Street, Middletown, CT. Calling hours are from 5:00-6:00 pm, funeral service at 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to find a cure for PSP or for mental health research at
