Susie Jane Dicker Bartell, 79, of Middletown; wife of the late James Floyd Bartell from Pamplico, South Carolina, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Middlesex Health. She was born on September 7, 1942, in Andrews South Carolina and graduated from Thompson High School in Kingstree, South Carolina. Susie resided in Middletown, CT most of her life. She worked and retired from Connecticut Valley Hospital where she received the Governor’s award for exemplary work. Susie was a faithful member for many years of the House of God Church in Middletown. She enjoyed going to church and listening to gospel music but most of all she enjoyed spending quality time with family. Susie’s motto was “If I don’t see you, I’m going to call you!”
She leaves behind four children, Michael Anthony (Bonita) Bartell, Wayne Bartell, Maria Bartell, and Tonnetta Bartell. She leaves behind two brothers, Eddie Horace Dicker Sr. Philadelphia, PA, Venard (Sandra) Dicker Sr., Clarksville, Tennessee, and four sisters, Verlena (WB) Wilson, Hemingway, SC, Emma J. (John) Sheenan, Stamford, CT, Glorthy M. (Theodore) Wilson, Smyrna, Delaware, and Flossie L. (John) Ervin, Andrews, SC, 12 grandchildren, and a host of great-grands, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 21st at 11:00 am at Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown. Family and friends may call before the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Andrews, South Carolina.
