Shirley Mae Sessoms

Shirley Mae Sessoms, 71, of Middletown, passed away on April 10, 2025, at Middlesex Hospital.  Born in Merry Hill, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Doris (White) Sessoms.

Shirley lived in Middletown most of her life where she attended Middletown Public Schools.  She was employed at Cromwell Crest and Wadsworth Glen from where she retired.  She was an extremely hard worker and also enjoyed her leisure time.  Shirley loved her children dearly and was a devoted sister, mother and grandmother.

Shirley is survived by her son Ja-Kese Sessoms and his significant other Sarah Lowrey of Middletown; her brother Michael Haynes of Middletown; two sisters Iris Ann Turner of Harrellsville, NC and Sheila Newsome and her husband Bill of Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren Taquanis Sessoms, Yaamal Jackson, Nicholas Correa, Amalia Sessoms and Kiara Sessoms; three great grandchildren, her beloved dogs, Loyalty and Monster, nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.

Along with her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her son Terrance Sessoms and her longtime partner Theodore “Big Boy” Freeman, Sr.
