Seymour “Sy” Feldman, died peacefully in the Middlesex Hospital Hospice Unit on October 03, 2023. He is survived by his daughters, Lori Burroughs (Katherine), and Amy Ward (Russell), his stepson, Richard Girard, with whom Sy resided and who lovingly cared for him for many years, as well as his other stepchildren, Rhonda Girard, and Robert Girard, and his beloved grandchildren, Samantha, Brittany, Ryan, Kelsey, and Taylor. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lenore Feldman, and his nieces and nephews, Judy, Steven, Joyce, and Neil. Sy was predeceased by his first wife, Judith (Klinger) Feldman, second wife, Regina “Bunnie” (LeHerissier) Feldman, and his brothers Milton and Harold.
Sy was born on February 10, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from Samuel J. Tilden High School in 1952. Sy served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959 and was a proud member and clarinetist with the Third Army Band at McPherson, Georgia. He also did volunteer work with several local organizations.
Sy lived most of his adult life in Middletown, CT and had a long career as a court reporter/stenographer in the Middlesex County superior court. Sy loved music, particularly jazz, big band, and his beloved old standards. He was also a big sports fan, faithfully watching and cheering on his NY Mets (because he never forgave the Dodgers for leaving Brooklyn!), NY Giants and the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 06, 2023, at 10:30 am at Adath Israel Cemetery, 714 Pine Street in Middletown where full military honors will be accorded.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation to Jewish War Veterans, https://www.jwv.org/give/donate/, or to their favorite charity in Sy’s name.
