Sean Michael Curley, 38, of Middletown, CT, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2023, after a long battle with Covid and complications due to chronic lung disease.
Born in Farmington, CT on July 13, 1985, to Karen and Francis Curley, Sean was a testament to resilience and determination. In his early days, Sean faced the most challenging of odds with unwavering strength. He was born prematurely and had respiratory complications, causing chronic lung disease. He grew into a beautiful young boy who had a strong love of legos, fire engines, and pestering his two younger sisters.
Truly one of a kind, there was nothing traditional about Sean. He traded in his baseball glove for magic cards and pogs, and his textbooks for Goosebump books and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He later found camaraderie in gaming and deep discussions (especially with his grandfather) on his love for cinema and all things Game of Thrones.
Although Sean was taken from us too soon, resilience, bravery and enduring spirit will be his legacy.
Sean is survived by his mother, Karen (Mackowitz) Curley, and father, Francis Curley (Mitzi Dwyer), who take comfort in loving memories they shared. He is also survived by his grandfather Neely Bruce, and sisters, Katie Hauver (Kevin) and Kelley Balbi (Mike). Sean was a proud uncle to three nieces, Evelyn Balbi, Rosie Hauver, and Lucy Hauver and one nephew, Ryan Balbi. He also leaves behind a large extended family, including aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Phyllis Bruce and Frederick Mackowitz, and paternal grandparents, George and Dorothy Curley.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 21st from 2:00 to 3:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Sean’s Life at 3:00 pm at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Lung Association in Sean’s honor. To share memories or send condolences, please visit www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
