Sarah Louise (Raynor) Tyler, 87, peacefully passed away on August 7, 2025, at Middlesex Hospital. She was born on November 1,1937 in Colerain, NC to the late Willie and Florida (Watford) Raynor and was known as Louise to her family.
Louise attended school in Bertie County, where she also worked on two farms in her early life. She attended Piney Wood Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Ahoskie, NC. She met and married Edward Tyler at 19 years old and they later moved to Middletown, CT, where they made their home. Louise was employed at Pratt and Whitney for 33 years. After she retired, she would babysit for family and friends. She had a passion for cooking. She enjoyed hosting holidays and cookouts with her family. You could always count on her to say, “Come by and get a plate”. She was especially known for her homemade chocolate cake and fried cornbread.
Louise leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter Annette Tyler; two grandchildren, Terry (Renee) Tyler and Miesha Tyler; six great grandchildren; Viviana Tyler of TX, Issak Moore, CJ Moore, Camiya Moore, Olivia Tyler and Chase Tyler all of Middletown; one sister, Bessie Lee Askew of Colerain, NC; four God children; Donna McMillian, Leon M. Raynor, Xavier Dawes and Nyla Dawes; one honorary grandson, Sammie Waters and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved like her own children.
Besides her parents Louise was predeceased by her husband, Edward Tyler and nine siblings.
Funeral services will be held at Cross St. AME Zion Church on 440 West Street, Middletown on Friday, August 15th at 11:00 am followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middletown.
