Rose Marie (Watford) Turner

Rose “Roe” Marie (Watford) Turner, 77, of Meriden, passed away on November 2, 2024.  Born in Colerain, NC, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Garnett (Wiggins) Watford.

Roe was an avid WWE fan meeting several wrestlers personally.  She enjoyed writing Bible verses from memory, sewing and gardening.  She was known as a social butterfly, the life of the party and the neighborhood Mom.  Roe will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, someone who spoke her mind, having a big heart, and someone who loved to laugh.

Roe is survived by three sons, Ivan T. Watford of Middletown, Curtis V. Watford of Rocky Hill and Ty-Shelb W. Watford of Meriden; a brother Earl McCoy of Brandon, FL; three sisters Garnell Mitchell of Meriden, Shelbia Watford-Leary of Middletown and Lisa Bass of Middletown; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, three great, great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Roe was predeceased by two sisters, Clarice Cofield and Lillie Mae Wiggins and three brothers Charlie E. Watford, Jr., Willie J. Watford and Dennis W. Watford.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 7th at 11:00 am at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown.  A burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.  Family and friends may call on Thursday morning before the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Roe’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 111 Founders Plaza, 2nd Floor, East Hartford, CT 06108.  To share memories or send condolences to the family, please visit www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
