Rose Haggerty Obituary

As a family we mourn the passing of Rose Jean Haggerty after a long battle with COPD. She was born in Manhattan, New York and was the daughter of Anthony Mendoza (deceased). She grew up in Taunton, Massachusetts where she resided with her grandmother and cousins. She was the loving wife of William Richard Haggerty, Jr. for over 30 years until his death and they resided in Marlborough, Connecticut.  She retired to Kingsland, Georgia after working as a healthcare companion and caregiver for many years. She is survived by her brother Anthony Mendoza Jr. and was a devoted mother to her six children: daughter - Linda Haggerty and her daughter (Erin Haggerty and spouse David Clancy and their daughter Roisin Clancy); son - William Haggerty and his spouse Donna Haggerty and their children (Megan Haggerty and her partner Kyle Banasiewicz), (Taylor Haggerty and her spouse Christopher Amado), and (Jamie Greaves and her partner Brian Parker and their sons Jacob and Corey Parker); son - David Haggerty and spouse Michelle Haggerty and their children (David Haggerty, Jr. and his sons Ayden and Haven Haggerty), (Connor and Nathan Haggerty); daughter - Lori Ann McManus and her spouse David McManus and her children (William Jones and son Liam Jones), (Melissa Flowers and her spouse Lamar Flowers and their son Cameron Flowers), (Katie Legowski and her spouse Eva Legowski and their daughter Mia Legowski), and (Alex Hanley); daughter - Colleen Ingram and her spouse Darnell Ingram Sr. and their children (Scott Pare and his partner Melissa Petty and their children Kylie, Scott Jr., Mason, McKenzie and Carter Pare), (Shawn Pare and his wife Madelyn Pare and their children (Jayden, Shawn Jr., Roman, Makai, Kalea Pare), (Christine Brooker and her spouse Pierce Brooker and their daughter Autumn Brooker), (Darnell Ingram Jr. and his daughters Sanaya and Samara Ingram); and son - Shawn Haggerty and his spouse Miranda Haggerty and their children (Alyssa and Shawn Haggerty). She loved each of us with her whole heart and was the glue that made our family what it is today.

Like many of her generation, she married young and had children one after the other. As hard as it was raising her young children, she became a brown belt in judo and loved bowling most of her life. She gave us all a childhood of freedom that allowed us to explore the outdoors, pursue our sports and hobbies and she never once missed our accomplishments or failed to catch us during our falls.  The focus of her life was her family, and her language of love was giving. She gave to everyone else before herself.

Over the years our family spread far and wide; from the east to the west coast and places in between, but Mom made her way to us or us to her.  She had an adventurous spirit and if any small group of us were going somewhere or doing anything she wanted to go. That included white water rafting, four wheeling in the Sonora dessert, horseback riding, and zip lining into her 70’s. Throughout her life she loved to dance and often was the first one on the floor when the music began.  She was vibrant, fun loving and radiated happiness when she was with family and friends.  We will miss her greatly.
