Rosa Ann Young (Giuffrida) of Cromwell, CT died peacefully with her family by her side at the Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford on July 2, 2025.
Born in Middletown to Bruno and Anna Giuffrida (Morello), she grew up in the city's north end, attended local schools and graduated from Middletown High School.
After raising her three boys, Rosa worked at Connecticut Bank & Trust in Cromwell and Middletown, Jefferson Federal Savings Bank and Liberty Bank in Cromwell, and retired from Raymond Engineering.
Rosa was an active member of the Xavier High School Home and School Association and was responsible for the annual fund-raiser. She and her family attended the former Covenant Congregational Church of Cromwell where she was active in the women's club. Later in life, she and her husband moved to their summer lakeside home in New Hampshire where she took pleasure in gardening and cooking for and hosting her family. Rosa and her husband were known for baking a multitude of Italian and Swedish Christmas cookies for their sons to share with their families and friends.
Rosa is survived by her three sons, Jeffrey (Tracy) of Portland, CT, Karl (Evamarie) of Owens Cross Roads, AL, and Stephen (Susan) of Scituate, MA, as well as her grandchildren, Dr. Whitney Young (Todd Jones), Spencer Young (Patrick La Petina), Hayden Young (Stephanie), Maggie Young, Isabel Young and Caroline Young, great-grandchildren, Myla Mary Young and Jax Arlo La Petina, her sister-in-law, Kathleen “Cathie” Giuffrida, as well as a nephew and nieces. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 64 years, Paul R. Young, and her brother, Bruno S. Giuffrida.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to the staff at Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford for their compassionate care of Rosa over the past few years.
Family and friends may call on Friday, October 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 4th at 11:00 am in Indian Hill Cemetery, 383 Washington Street, Middletown.
