Rosa Lee (Lewis) Johnson

Rosa Lee Johnson (Lewis), 99, of  Middletown, CT, passed away on January 24, 2023 at home with her husband by her side. Rosa was born April 16, 1923 in Emporia, Virginia, the daughter of Mittie Williams and William Lewis. 
 

She was predeceased by two sons, Rudy and Cornelius Greenway. 
 

Rosa is survived by her husband Samuel Johnson, son Shelvie Lee Johnson, and his wife Kelly Nichols-Johnson, and granddaughters Kayla Rose Johnson (“sweet pea”), Candace Taylor, and Tanya Sharpe.
    

Rosa was a dedicated member of Zion First Baptist Church in Middletown, CT, serving as an usher and volunteering to cook every Sunday for church events. She worked as a salesclerk at Wrubel’s Dept Store in Middletown and enjoyed gardening. 

Rosa will be remembered for her feisty personality, and as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an amazing cook, preparing Southern dishes at holidays for family and friends to enjoy.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 31 at 11:00 am at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown.  Family and friends may call before the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.  To share memories or send condolences to the family, please visit www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
