Ronald Nelson Saunders, 67, of East Haddam, husband of Nancy (Kimball) Saunders, passed away on May 25, 2026, at Hartford Hospital. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Curtis and Lillian (Dean) Saunders.
Ron was a very proud veteran of the United States Navy for six years. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor and was a submariner on the USS New York City. He worked at Northeast Utilities as an operator at Connecticut Yankee Power Plant, and then as an operator at Convex.
Ron’s #1 love was duck hunting; he also loved fishing, camping and the Connecticut River where he spent countless hours on it. He loved nature of all kinds, especially watching birds with Nancy in the yard. He loved his Harley and their dogs. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion, both in Moodus. Ron will be remembered as a very generous person.
Along with his wife, Ron is survived by his daughter Rebecca Grant and her husband TJ of Moodus; brother Michael Saunders of Essex; three sisters Kathy Ely of Haddam, Christine Loguidice of Haddam and Celia Gayweiler of New Hartford and three grandchildren Chase Ronald Savo, Shelby Grant and Eleanor Grant.
