Roger Daniel Natusch, 71, of East Haddam and Sebastian, FL, beloved husband of Cindy
(Mooney) Natusch for forty-three years, passed away at Middlesex Hospital on July 13, 2024
after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Milton and Henrietta “Jane”
(TerVeen) Natusch and was raised in Oxford, CT.
Roger was part of the first graduating class of Emmett O’Brien Technical High School in
Ansonia in 1971. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and was
first stationed in Hawaii, where he traveled throughout the islands of the South Pacific. His next
posting was in New York where he worked on lighthouses throughout Long Island Sound as an
electrician. After leaving the military he worked for the State of Connecticut for thirty years. He
began his tenure with the state as head electrician for the Southbury Training School then moved
on to become the building superintendent of Kaynor Technical High School. Following his
retirement from the State he worked as the building official for the towns of Bethlehem,
Thomaston, and Morris.
Roger lived in Bethlehem for over thirty years where he built his home and raised his family. He
enjoyed boating, fishing, and hunting. He dearly loved his goats and dog Buddy.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his son Daniel Natusch of East Haddam; his daughter
Jessica Fredericks of North Andover, MA; his brother Milton S. Natusch of Mansfield Center
and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Roger was predeceased by his sister Sharon Ann Detlefsen, his brother
Kevin J. Natusch, and step-father Joseph Cenicola.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Middlesex Hospital and CT Oncology
for their compassionate care and support.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 3rd at 3:00 pm at the Doolittle Funeral Home,
14 Old Church Street, Middletown. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family and
friends may call before the service from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in
