Roger Henry Gronbach passed away peacefully at home with his family on January 3, 2021. He was born in Jamaica Queens, New York to Francis Emily (Sauer) and William Henry Gronbach on January 27, 1939. He grew up with his three brothers in Massapequa, NY. Four Boys made a house of havoc for Francis. Roger had an identical twin, Robert Charles Gronbach who predeceased him. Charles William Gronbach and Kenneth Warren Gronbach are his surviving brothers. He leaves behind his wife and three children. Roger married Phyllis Marie (Messina) in 1962 in Middletown CT. They enjoyed a long marriage and did everything together. Roger and Phyllis moved to Higganum, CT in 1968 and raised their three children, Darlene Marie O'Connell of Moira, NY, William Charles Gronbach of Middletown, CT and Charlene Ann Baldwin of Durham, CT. He also leaves behind his respective in-laws, Robert O'Connell, Suzanne Gronbach and Max Baldwin. He enjoyed work as a precision machinist in the aerospace industry. He mostly enjoyed traveling with his family, attending car shows and riding his motorcycle. Every summer meant a new road and it didn't matter how far. He RV'ed us all across the country numerous times to see family on the west coast. Roger loved car shows so much that he could identify every classic car with a quick glance. He enjoyed scuba diving and did the Frozen Fin Dive in Stonington CT numerous times. He explored WWII wreckages on Truk Island in the South Pacific and he dove locally looking for antique cars at the bottom of Miller's Pond. He joined in the reconnection with our root family from Germany and traveled to see them as well. Family was always top on his list and he was always fun to be with. He leaves behind five grandchildren, Jason O'Connell, Chelsea (O'Connell) Dabrowski, William Gronbach, Joshua Gronbach and Max William Baldwin. He also leaves behind four great grandchildren, Elysha O'Connell, River O'Connell, Zeppelin O'Connell and Addison Marie Dabrowski. He will be missed. A private burial was held on January 6th, 2021 and a celebration of his life will be planned at a later date this year.
