Robert James Overton, Jr., 71, husband of Cynthia (Dickerson) Overton, passed away on June 12, 2022.  Born in Ahoskie, NC, he was the son of the late Robert and Virlie (Rankin) Overton, Sr.  Robert was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Along with his wife, he is survived by 3 sons, Maurice Overton of Middletown, Andre Overton of Waterbury and stepson Darell Nesmith of Middletown; 2 daughters, Salva Trice Cockrell of New Britain and Monifa Holman of Georgia and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 21 at 10:00 am at Cross Street AME Zion Church, 440 West Street, Middletown.  Burial will follow in the State Veteran Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded.
