Richard Julius Randall

Richard Julius Randall, 83, of Middletown, CT died Sunday, May 2, 2021 after suffering a fall. He was born in Greenfield, MA, July 7, 1937 to Don Winfield Randall and Marjorie Doris Eitapence Randall.

Richard attended Hartford public schools. He served for many years as a full time city of Middletown firefighter, receiving numerous awards and commendations for bravery. He participated in community outreach and frequently appeared as a firefighter in parades and local events. He also drove tour buses part time for various companies, as well as driving local vans for the Middlesex Red Cross.

He was a lifetime member of the Middletown Elks, participating in many charitable events with them. In 2010 he was awarded The Elks' Distinguished Citizenship Award along with a proclamation from the city of Middletown celebrating Richard Randall Day. Although Richard had no children of his own, he dearly loved them, and spent countless hours touring in his cherished autos with his younger brother, nephews and nieces, and the children of friends.

He is survived by sister Doris Marie Randall Bongiorno (m. Salvatore Bongiorno), brother Don Eugene Randall (m. Doris Martin) and brother Douglas Scott Randall (m. Janet Sullivan). He also leaves nephews and nieces Paul, Bill and Susan Bongiorno, Don and Darren Randall, Dawn Parizo, and Denise Tripp, and cousins Ann Lurvey–Scholtz and George White. Richard was predeceased by his parents, his former sister-in–law Barbara Gitchell, and his nephew Andrew David Frizen.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, May 11 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown. A graveside service will follow at 1:30pm in Pine Grove Cemetery, 857 South Main Street, Middletown.
