Phyllis Haseltine (Wiley) Cavender

Phyllis Haseltine Wiley Cavender, age 92, of Cromwell, CT, died peacefully surrounded by family Saturday, May 1, 2021.  Phyllis was born in Upland, PA on the 4th of July, 1928. 

She was predeceased by her parents, Lydia H. and David A. Wiley, Sr., her sister, Virginia Wiley Mann, brother, David A. Wiley, Jr. and her husbands, John S. Brace, Charles J. Upperman and John L. Cavender. She is survived by her beloved children; Susan W. Brace (Nancy Witherill) of Rockingham, VT, Amy L. Upperman (Michael Alberts) of Albuquerque, NM and Margaret “Meg” E. Holland of Earleville, MD; her grandchildren, Wiley O. Brace and Elizabeth C. Holland; her great grandchildren, David, Emma and Mason; her dear sister, Marilyn Wiley Bengtson of Cromwell, six cherished nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.  She was a 1950 graduate of West Chester State Teacher’s College, now West Chester University. 

Phyllis was an active member of Saint John’s Episcopal Church, Concordville, PA for many years.  She sang in the choir for 44 years and was a past vestry member.  She also volunteered at Riddle Hospital in Media, PA as a Pink Lady.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 14th at 2:00pm at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Middletown, CT and a second service and burial at Saint John’s Episcopal Church, Concordville, PA on a date to be announced.
