Pedro Couvertier Pizarro, 72, of Windsor, beloved husband of Rosa (Rosario) Couvertier for forty-eight years, passed away on February 24, 2021 at Saint Francis Hospital. Born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Lorenzo and Antonia Pizarro Couvertier.
Pedro was born and raised in Puerto Rico. Growing up, Pedro enjoyed basketball and baseball. He raised his family in Connecticut and upon retirement moved to Florida until 2019 when he returned to Connecticut. Pedro served in the United States ARMY 11th Armor Calvary Regiment during Vietnam. He was employed by Northeast Utilities for twenty-two years and the Department of Energy SC Savannah River Site for ten years. Pedro loved playing golf and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates fan.
Along with his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Sylvia B. Couvertier of Mount Olive, NJ, Aixa Couvertier-Nesmith and her husband Desi of Windsor, Mayte Mari Couvertier of Colchester and Vanessa Mari Couvertier of Philadelphia, PA; his brother, Angel Martoral of New Bedford, MA; a sister Sylvia Couvertier of Wethersfield and six grandchildren, Emily Albert, Noah Albert, Thomas German, Landon Von Plachecki, Alexandra G. Nesmith and Kimble J. Nesmith and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Pedro was predeceased by his son, Ricardo J. Couvertier.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 3 at 1:00 pm in the State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown where full military honors will be accorded.
