Patricia N. (Shelton) Riley

Patricia Nell (Shelton) Riley, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023, at Middlesex Hospital.  Born in Ashland, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late George and Mozelle (Harris) Shelton.

Patricia lived in Cromwell most of her life and worked at Middlesex Hospital for over 35 years.  She was a fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants and the UCONN Women’s basketball team.  Patricia loved dogs and sitting on her front porch but above all she loved her family.

Patricia is survived by two sons, Clarence Riley, Jr.  of Cromwell and Stephen Riley (Candy) of Pittsfield, MA; three daughters, Roslyn Rankins of East Hartford, Kim Johnson of Pittsfield, MA, and Venus George of New London; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Patricia was predeceased by her son, John F. Riley, four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 12th at 11:00 am at Cross Street AME Zion Church, 440 West Street, Middletown.  A burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.  Family and friends may call on Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia’s memory may be made to American Diabetes Association, 2275 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 9, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.  To share memories or send condolences to the family, please visit www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
