Patricia Hill Nolan
October 30, 1939 – August 1, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and profound gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of our beloved Patricia Hill Nolan on August 1, 2025. Patricia passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 85.
Born in Middletown, Connecticut, on October 30, 1939, Patricia—known affectionately as Pat—grew up in Portland, CT, and graduated from Portland High School. In 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Nolan. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Patricia was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and wisdom deeply touched all who knew her. While raising her young children, she pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse, proudly graduating from the Ona M. Wilcox School of Nursing and earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern Connecticut State University at age forty, followed by a distinguished career at Middlesex Hospital until her retirement.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life: cheering her loved ones through sporting events, summers on Cape Cod, watching Red Sox games, and tending to her beloved farm animals and flowers.
Patricia was preceded in death by her mother, Winifred Smedick Hill, her father William H Hill and her son-in-law, Rick Stevens. She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Thomas Nolan; her brother, William Hill, and his wife, Kathleen; her children, Colleen, Tim (Lynn), Chris (Ellen), and Kathleen (Matt); as well as her 12 beloved grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immeasurable pride and joy.
Calling hours will be held at Doolittle Funeral Home on 14 Old Church St. in Middletown on Friday, August 8th from 4:00–7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Saint Mary’s Church on Freestone Avenue in Portland on Saturday, August 9th at 10:00 AM followed by a burial in Center Cemetery.
