Odell Mae (Fitts) Hoggard

On Friday May 21, 2021 the Lord called my mom Odell Mae Fitts Hoggard home to her final resting place as she peacefully accepted God’s wings to fly away with him.  She was born April 7, 1943 in Blairs, Pittsylvania County, Virginia. She moved to New York & then to Connecticut for the last 60 years, Odell was born to Charlie & Ruth Martin Fitts. She was educated in the Pittsylvania County School System & baptized in the Baptist Church. Odell worked at EIS of Middletown Pratt & Whitney and Avalon Bay Properties both of which she retired from. Odell married Clarence W. Hoggard & was blessed with one child Charlotte Hoggard Riddick (Emmitt III).
      Odell leaves behind three sisters and one brother, Louise Fitts Askew of Middletown, Gertrude Fitts Slade Raleigh Junior Fitts & Frances Fitts Stamps, all of Virginia; her loving granddaughter, Lakuandria Hoggard; grandson, Emmitt H Riddick, IV of CT; two bonus grandchildren Erin Nicole Riddick of Charlotte NC(Shyia) and Erika Chapple of Pittsburgh; the joy of her heart great granddaughter Kimora Syrai Hoggard of CT along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
      Odell was predeceased in death by her parents, her husband, and her brothers, Willie Shirley Fitts & Jimmie Wilson Fitts.
Her memory will be with all of us to always cherish.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 28th at 3:00 pm at Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.  To share memories or send condolences to the family, please visit www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
