Nina Roberta (Brown) Evers

Nina Roberta (Brown) Evers, 70, beloved wife of William W. Evers, Jr., passed away on July 18, 2022 at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a sixteen year courageous battle with cancer.  Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Janina (Monkiewicz) Brown. Nina was a resident of Durham for over twenty years. 

Nina worked at Hartford Steam Boiler and then moved to the financial planning industry.  She also worked as an executive assistant at Gateway Community College.  Nina took extreme pride in her work, insisting on working full time through her numerous medical treatments.

Nina also loved to sew, creating as many intricate costumes as she could for school plays and community groups.  Nina recognized the importance of maintaining family traditions, most important being Christmas and Easter.  Nina was selfless, kindhearted, and a devoted wife, mother and friend.  She left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Along with her husband, Nina is survived by a son, Jeremy Mink of San Diego, CA; a daughter, Jessica Mink of San Diego, CA; two brothers, Robert Brown of Harwinton and Paul Brown of Maui, HI and a sister, Sally Thibeault of St. Agatha, ME.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 23rd at 10:00 am at Notre Dame Church, 272 Main Street, Durham.  Burial will follow in Mica Hill Cemetery.  Family and friends may call on Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Nina’s memory may be made to Smilow Cancer Hospital, 35 Park Street, New Haven, CT 06511 or Vitas Healthcare, 199 Park Road Ext., Suite 102, Middlebury, CT 06762.  To share memories or send condolences to the family, please visit www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
