Nihla Mae (Libby) Lapidus

Nihla Mae Lapidus (Libby), age 89, of Middletown, CT, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday morning, May 23, 2021.  She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, auntie, “Bubbie” and a friend to many.

Born in Hartford, CT on July 14th, 1931, Nihla was the daughter of Samuel and Sylvia Libby.  She graduated as a Registered Nurse from Hartford Hospital School of Nursing.

Nihla was predeceased by her loving husband and best friend, Robert (RJ) Lapidus. They were together over 50 years prior to his passing in 2007.  She was also predeceased by her sister Marilyn and her husband, John Fried.

She is survived by her sisters Gail Freedman, Diane and her husband, Ed Schwartz;  her sons Marc, David and his wife, Fotoulla Nicole; by her grandchildren: Zachary, his fiancé, Jackie, Kyle, Ellie, Alex, Nicholas and her great-granddaughter, Maya.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 26th at 2:00 pm at Adath Israel Cemetery, 714 Pine Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
