Nellie Louise (Pirruccio) Nyren, 92, of Cromwell, wife of the late Donald D. Nyren, passed away on July 28, 2023, at Autumn Lake of Cromwell. Born in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Vincenza (Dolce) Pirruccio.
Nellie has lived in Cromwell her entire life and was a member of Saint John Church in Cromwell. She started her banking career at City Savings which later merged and became Farmers & Mechanics Bank. Nellie’s family was her absolute world, whenever she was talking with someone, her ending words were “I love you more”.
Nellie is survived by two daughters, Cheryl A. Harrington of South Windsor and Donna Franklin and her husband Thomas of Cromwell; her sister, Lucille A. Pirruccio of South Glastonbury; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Harrington (Maureen), Michelle Fotaras (Nick), Kelly Franklin-Sundholm (Drew) and Rose Franklin and five great grandchildren, Arianna, Savannah, Connor, Graham, and Scarlett.
Along with her husband and parents, Nellie was predeceased by her son-in-law, Michael Harrington; great grandson, Aiden; four sisters, Anne Alfano, Mary Pirruccio, Ellen Smith, and Rose Cote and two brothers, Michael Pirruccio and George Pirruccio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 2nd at 10:30 am at Saint John Church. A burial will follow in the State Veteran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nellie’s memory may be made to Saint John Church, 5 Saint John Court, Cromwell, CT 06416, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
