Obituary

Myroslaw “Myron” Zajac, 81, of Colchester, beloved husband of Linda (Maine) Williams for twenty years, passed away on September 8, 2023, at Apple Rehab in Rocky Hill.  He was the son of the late Jakym and Olha (Peresada) Zajac.

Born in Berezhany, Ukraine, Myron’s family had to leave when he was two, they walked into Germany and lived in a displaced persons camp before coming to the United States.  He lived in Colchester, Hartford, and Windsor and settled back in Colchester.  He worked for Industrial Risks Insurers in Hartford.  Myron loved fishing, bowling, building models and birdhouses, boats, baking bread, and starting plants from seed and distributing to family and friends.  He also enjoyed vacations at camp in New Hampshire, playing cribbage and reliving his perfect 29 hand, and always enjoyed and cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren. Myron and Linda loved the many cruises they went on with family and friends from Alaska to the Caribbean Islands.

Along with his wife, Myron is survived by two daughters, Helen Zajac Eichmann and her husband Erwin of Manhattan, NY and Susan Williams Major and her husband John of  Easthampton, MA; a son, Andrew Williams and his wife Roshni Koshy of Kew Gardens, NY; four grandchildren, Jacob Eichmann, Caroline Major, Kayla Eichmann and Alex Major; a brother, Roman Zajac and his wife Frances Calafiore of Hartford; a sister-in-law Helene Zajac of Glastonbury and two cousins.

Besides his parents, Myron was predeceased by his brother Orest Zajac.

Myron’s family would like to say a special thank you to the nurses and aides at Apple Rehab for their kind and compassionate care.
