Michele Delisle Obituary

Michele Lareau Delisle went home to the Lord on Friday, December 8, 2023. She was 55 years old and resided in Columbia, CT. Michele was the oldest child of Michael and the late Frances (Joy) Lareau of Columbia.

Michele was born in Girard, Ohio and was educated at local schools. She was a 1986 graduate of Windham High School in Windham. She earned a Business certificate from the Morse School of Business in Hartford. Michele worked for many companies until she found her true calling as a mother to her daughter, Renee Delisle. She was forceful and supportive of her daughter especially during those early years. Michele’s daughter was born with a birth defect and became an advocate and vocal cheerleader for her. Michele accompanied her family on many vacations, went to many concerts and tons of sporting events. In January 2009, Michele suffered 2 strokes which paralyzed her for the rest of her life. Her illness didn’t diminish her love for the Boston Red Sox and UConn Women’s Basketball. Michele loved to travel throughout the country and especially to her most favorite spot in the world, the island of Aruba.

In addition to her daughter and father, she leaves behind her brother Mark Lareau and her “sister in love” Michelle Phenix of Worcester, MA, Uncles and Aunts, Uncle Peter Joy and Aunt Rebecca Dresser of University City, Missouri, Uncle Roland and Aunt Linda Lareau of Westerly, Rhode Island and many nieces and nephews as well as numerous cousins. Michele also leaves behind the “love of her life”, her former husband Daniel Delisle of Cromwell and four very special friends; Lisa Merced, Stacey Valliere, Judy Golka and Kim Davis. Thank you, ladies, for always being there when you were needed the most. We would like to thank the skilled workers who cared for Michele all these years. Alanna, Amy, Evans, Kari and Mary, your support and care was indeed a comfort to her.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 17th from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday morning, December 18th at 10:00 am at St. John Church in Cromwell followed by a burial in Cromwell Hillside Cemetery.
