Michael John Hastings, Sr.

Michael John Hastings, Sr., 69, of Cromwell, CT died peacefully at his home on April 1, 2021. He was born in Clinton, MA, son of the late Patrick J. and Mary (Freel) Hastings. The family moved to Northboro, MA, then to Shrewsbury, MA where Mikey graduated from St. John’s High School in 1970. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, much of the time stationed in Alaska. After serving, he obtained a degree in Business Management from the University of Oregon and began a life-long career in sales and marketing. Among the states he worked in, were Colorado, Massachusetts, Texas, Oregon, Mississippi, and New Mexico. In 2020 he retired as Business Development Manager for Lynch Toyota of Manchester, Connecticut.

Mikey’s wife and the love of his life, Cindy (La Plante) Hastings, died in 2018. He was also predeceased by his older brother Patrick (P.J.) of Beaumont, Texas. Mikey is survived by four children: Erica Porteus; Melissa Maciejewski (Matt) of Durham, CT; Patrick and Michael Hastings, Jr of Cromwell, CT. He leaves four grandchildren: Owenn; Kayla; Jason; and R.J.

He leaves two older sisters: Elizabeth (Libby) Hastings of Florida and Maine and Kathleen Wilkinson (Kevin) of West Boylston, MA and Maine. Also, Mikey leaves his loving Mother-in-Law, Phyllis LaPlante (Bill) of Wilbraham, MA, and three sisters-in law: Mary Ann Hastings of TX; Lori LaPlante of Middletown, CT; and Tani LaPlante of Tolland, CT. Mikey will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and colleagues too.

Services will be arranged by Cromwell Funeral Home on a date to be announced.
