Marye Bradley Obituary

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7

Marye "Hester" Oliver Bradley, 84, born on October 12, 1939, in Eufaula, Alabama, peacefully entered eternal rest on August 24, 2024. A devoted sister, mother, grandmother, and godmother, Hester was a pillar of strength and faith in her family and community.

Hester grew up in Eufaula, AL, and graduated from T.V. McCoo High School where she developed the values and strength of character that would guide her throughout her life. In 1962, she made her way to Middletown, CT, where she would build a life filled with love and purpose. While in Middletown, Hester worked at Russell Manufacturing, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.

Hester was a cherished member of Shiloh Baptist Missionary Church, where she served faithfully as an usher alongside her sisters and lifted her voice in praise as a member of the choir. Her unwavering faith and dedication to her church were evident in every aspect of her life. She had a vibrant spirit and a passion for life, which she expressed through her love for shopping. Whether finding the perfect gift for a loved one or indulging in a little retail therapy, Hester’s eye for detail and joy in the simple pleasures brought happiness to those around her.

Hester is survived by her beloved sisters, Marie “Tuddie” (Willard) Brown of Naugatuck, CT, and Lillie Mae Oliver of Middletown, CT. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will Oliver Sr. and Marie Hicks Oliver of Eufaula, AL, and her brothers, Will “Uncle Bill” (Bettye) Oliver Jr. of Middletown, CT, Jimmy Lee (Daisy) Oliver of Eufaula, AL, and Bennie Frank (Liz) Oliver of Middletown, CT.

She leaves behind her devoted children: Bruce Oliver of Middletown, CT, and Chris (Maria) Bradley of Springfield, MA. Hester was the proud grandmother of Myles Bradley of Springfield, MA, Olivia Bradley of Springfield, MA, and Odalis Oliver of Manchester, CT. Her legacy of love and kindness is also carried on by her three goddaughters, Tammi Brown of Augusta, GA, Dr. Jada Waters of Springfield, MA, and Dr. Mallory (Aaron) Perry-Eaddy of Middletown, CT.

Hester’s memory will forever be cherished by her extended family, friends, and all who knew her. Her warmth, compassion, and steadfast faith have left an indelible mark on those blessed to have shared in her life.
