Mary Willoughby Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Randolph Willoughby, 89, of Middletown, passed away on April 3, 2022 at her home.   She was born in 1933 in Columbia, SC to the late John and Mattie (Cooper) Randolph.

Mary moved to Middletown, CT in 1943 where she attended local schools. She married Hilton Ray Willoughby, Sr. and they had one son.  She was a member of Cross Street AME Zion for many years where she was a missionary, an usher, and a member of the many church committees. She was also a member of the NAACP and a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 206. Mary retired from the Lake Grove School in Durham, CT for over 20 years.

Mary was an animal lover; she enjoyed walking her dog and feeding the birds. Mary loved her family especially her son Ray.

     Mary is survived by her loving son Hilton Ray Willoughby Jr and wife Lucinda; her brother William Randolph (Cecilia) of Bloomfield, CT; six grandchildren, Deshonda Willoughby of Middletown, CT, Symphone’e Lindsey (Marcus) of Accokeek, MD, Paige Wade Willoughby of Cromwell, CT, Hilton Ray-Ray Willoughby III of Brooklyn, NY, Brandon Ray Willoughby of Hawaii, and Camren Ray Willoughby of Myrtle Beach, SC; five great grandchildren, Miss Symphone’e Burney of Middletown, CT, Aria Parker of Middletown, CT, Miles, Mia and Mason Lindsey of Accokeek, MD and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

     Beside her parents and her husband, Mary was predeceased by her sister Virginia Rougeau.
