Mary Elizabeth (Meyfarth) Bacon, 88, of Cromwell, beloved wife of C. William Bacon for sixty-eight years, passed away on April 16, 2026.  Born in Cleveland and raised in Macedonia, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Cleopha Margaret (Franz) Meyfarth and the late George Henry Meyfarth.

Mary earned her high school diploma from Laurel School in 1955, attended Simmons College in Boston where she met her husband, and graduated from Central Connecticut State College in 1958 with a teaching degree.  Mary worked as a nursery school teacher at Bethany Lutheran Church for thirty-three years and later participated actively in the family business, Bacon Brothers, Inc.

In Mary’s spare time she enjoyed puzzles, reading, UConn women’s basketball, family vacations to Ohio, Maine, Bonaire, and Disney World, and spending time with her grandchildren.  She loved hosting Sunday night dinners for the whole family to get together.

Along with her husband, Mary is survived by her brother Philip Franz Meyfarth; sons Brett Daniel Bacon (Audrey) and James William Bacon (Kimberly); five grandchildren Sarah Nicole Bacon (Christopher), Michael Anthony Bacon (Madison), Matthew Joseph Ruland (Adriana), Thomas James Bacon, and Emily Elizabeth Bacon (Adam) and three great grandchildren Emmarose Ivonne Ruland, Violet Mary Ruland, and William Henry Bacon.

Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her daughter Barbara Diane Bacon and brother George Henry Meyfarth.

The Bacon Family would like to extend a special thank you to Caregiving by Kathy who provided some of the best caregivers for Mary, especially Shirley, Martha, Dee and Beatrice.  They would also like to thank The Grove at Covenant Village for the wonderful care that they provided.
