Lois R. Greenbacker, age 69 of Durham, passed away on August 15, 2024 at Middlesex Hospital. Lois was the wife of Joseph Greenbacker for over 52 years. Born in Middletown on December 18, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Shettleworth and Fanny (Grapentin) Shettleworth. Throughout her lifetime she lived in Middlefield, Meriden, and Durham. In addition to her husband, Lois is survived by her brother Paul Shettleworth Sr. and wife Linda, daughter Melissa Dziurgot and husband Matt, daughter Amy Peterson and husband Nathaniel, son Matthew Greenbacker and wife Patricia, and grandsons Solomon and Silas Greenbacker. She was predeceased by her brother John Shettleworth Sr. Lois was a dairy farmer who milked the cows twice a day for many years on her family’s dairy farm, Greenbacker’s Brookfield Farm of Durham (formerly located in Meriden). She was actively involved in local agricultural fairs, filling various dairy show superintendent roles at the North Haven, Durham, and Berlin Fairs for many years. In her spare time she loved spending time at home with family as well as gardening, cooking, and reading. Lois will be remembered for her kind, generous spirit and her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with whom she now resides in Heaven. Friends may visit with her family on Wednesday, August 21 during calling hours from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at New Life Church, 350 High Hill Road, Wallingford. A service and reception are to follow.
