Laura Lenz Obituary

Laura Evelyn (Johnston) Lenz, 89, of Middletown, wife of the late Norman E. Lenz, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 7, 2021. Born in Cromwell, she was the daughter of the late William and Patience (Stokes) Johnston and had lived in Middletown all of her life.

Laura was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she served as church secretary, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was a member of Luther M’s. She also volunteered at Luther Ridge for many years.

Laura enjoyed spending time at her cottage in Westbrook, was an avid UCONN Women’s Basketball fan and season ticket holder, enjoyed the YMCA aquatic exercise classes and bowling in a bowling league. She was a fixture at her son’s baseball and basketball games and was famous for her Jewish Coffee Cake. Laura was so thoughtful and caring always recognizing birthday’s and special events.

Laura is survived by her son, David A. Lenz and his fiancée, Heathir Fostyni of Cheshire; two brothers, Henry Johnston of Cromwell and Charles Johnston and his wife, Gesiela of Killingworth; two granddaughters, Maddisen and Isabell Fostyni; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and a special caregiver, Deborah Oliver.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, William, James, Harold and Richard Johnston; and two sisters, Bessie Johnston and Shirley Moncada.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 18th at 10:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church in Middletown. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown on. In lieu of flowers, donations in Laura’s memory may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 300 Washington Street, Middletown, CT 06457 or charity of the donor’s choice.
