Obituary

Keith Woodhull Acker, 77, of Cromwell, husband of Julia (Turnquist) Bradley, passed away at home on July 6, 2023. Born in Greenport, Long Island, New York, he was the son of Andrew F. Acker, Jr. and Miriam (Woodhull) Acker.

Keith graduated salutatorian from Bridgehampton High School in Bridgehampton, NY and was captain of the golf team. He graduated from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY receiving a bachelor’s degree in English Literature in 1967 and then taught at Rumsey Hall in Washington, CT.  Keith served in the U.S. Air Force for several years studying Chinese and translating at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA, after which he continued his studies at National Taiwan University in Taipei. He went on to UCONN Law School graduating in 1978 and practiced law in Middletown for many years.

Keith enjoyed reading books especially history, politics, languages and cultures, was an avid golfer and loved to travel. His family was most important to him and he would do anything for them.

Besides his wife of 37 years, he is survived by a son, Alex L. Acker of Beijing, China; a brother, Andrew Acker of Story City, Iowa; a sister, Marilynn Ezell of Temple, New Hampshire; two granddaughters, Mikayla C. Acker and Elora C. Acker; and several nieces and nephews.
