Joyce Pearl (Gildert) Pendell, 90, of Cromwell, beloved wife of Chester R. Pendell for sixty- eight years, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Hospital of Central Connecticut. Born in Presque Isle, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Brown) Gildert.
Joyce lived in Cromwell since 1991 and was an avid reader and bowler and loved parties, playing cards and the casino! Her favorite saying was “I’m not going anywhere, I’m still here”.
Along with her husband, Joyce is survived by her son, David R. Pendell and his wife Kathleen of Southington; three daughters, Debra Pendell and Carl Oman of North Adams, MA, Diane Pupedis and her husband Louie of Cromwell and Denise Mackey and her husband Bill of Middlefield; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Joyce was predeceased by three brothers, Arthur, Jr., Roger and Cecil Gildert and a sister, Pauline Giguere.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 6 at 2:00 pm at Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call on Sunday before the service from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
