Joseph Adam Peryga, 81, of Middlefield, passed away on April 18, 2026, at his home. Born in Mokracz, Poland, he was the son of the late Antony and Marie (Stasiak) Peryga.
Joseph grew up in Poland and lived in the Czech Republic in his twenties. In the early 1970’s, he moved to the United States and became a citizen. He lived mostly in Middlefield where he was very proud of the home he built for his family. He worked for Shepard Steel Company for over thirty years and took immense pride in the job he did.
Joseph loved the outdoors, working in the woods and traveling. He enjoyed the Connecticut shore for boating and Hammonasset Beach. Above all, Joseph loved and enjoyed his grandchildren.
Joseph is survived by two sons Mark Peryga and his wife Julie and Erik Peryga and his wife Erica; a daughter Silvie Skanderova Perygova and her husband Tomasz; four grandchildren John, Julian, Paige and David; a sister Teresa Stawski and her husband Marian and two nephews Tomasz and Adam.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Marek Peryga.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 3rd at 2:00 pm at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell. Family and friends may call before the service from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph’s memory may be made to Friends of Hammonasset @ Hammonasset.org/donate.
