Joseph Marozzi Obituary

Joseph Samuel Marozzi, 83, of Cromwell, CT, passed away on September 24, 2025, with his beloved wife by his side.

Born on February 23, 1942, in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Alfred Joseph Marozzi and Rose Agatha Tulisano. Joseph grew up in Cromwell and attended trade school in Middletown, CT. He went on to work as a Test Operator for Jet Engines at Pratt & Whitney’s Willgoos Lab in East Hartford, CT, where he dedicated 36 years of service.

Joseph retired at the age of 55 and was fortunate to enjoy 28 years of retirement. During that time, he remained active—constantly working around the house and on cars, never one to shy away from fixing things himself. A skilled mechanic, he did all his own auto repairs. He especially looked forward to the 4th of July, always eager to buy fireworks and light up the night sky.

In his younger years, Joseph was an avid bowler and participated in a local league. Even later in life, he kept the tradition alive by watching bowling on TV and was fascinated when his youngest child introduced him to bowling on the Wii.

He also had a passion for racing, having competed at the old Riverside Park Speedway, Waterford Speedbowl, and Stafford Motor Speedway. That love for racing continued throughout his life, as he rarely missed a NASCAR race on the weekends.

Joseph cherished time outdoors. He often took his family crabbing along the shoreline in Old Lyme, CT, turning "just one more hour" into a full day.  Occasionally, he would bring a fishing pole and go bluefishing as well.

He also enjoyed deer hunting trips to Vermont with close friends, especially bow hunting, which he found both peaceful and rewarding.

Above all, Joseph loved life and watching his family grow. His greatest wish was to stay around as long as he could to see their lives evolve.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Noreen Marozzi (Griffin); his daughter JoAnn Marozzi and her partner Joe Maturano, and granddaughter Sara Maturano; his son Joseph A. Marozzi and grandsons Marc and Daniel Marozzi; and his daughter Emily Montenegro (Marozzi) and her husband Joseph Montenegro, along with their two sons, Ethan and Timothy Montenegro, who brought him immeasurable joy; and his brother, Fred Marozzi.

Joseph was predeceased by his brother Mark Marozzi, and his son Jesse Marozzi.
