John Chris Schmidt, 74, of Rocky Hill, passed away on March 31, 2024, at the Rocky Hill Veterans Home.  Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of Arbutus (Taup) Schmidt of Center Line, MI, and the late John F. Schmidt. 

John served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  He was a very active member of the VFW and served as a past Commander.  John enjoyed going to plays and travelling, especially to Las Vegas where he enjoyed gambling.

Along with his mother, John is survived by three sisters, Pamela Schmidt of Center Line, MI, Sandra Evanoff of Warren, MI and Dawn Lipke of Center Line, MI and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 8th at 10:30 am in Colonel Raymond F. Gates Memorial Cemetery, 392 West Street, Rocky Hill where full military honors will be accorded.  To share memories or send condolence to the family, please visit www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
