Joan Frances (Derenthal) Larson

Joan “Bunny” Frances (Derenthal) Larson, 92, of Windsor Locks, beloved wife of Burton L. Larson for 61 years, passed away on August 16, 2023, at Hartford Hospital.  Born in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alfreda (Samuelson) Derenthal.

Bunny graduated from Middletown high School, Class of 1948.  She worked as an executive secretary for Traveler’s Insurance, United Technologies, CT Bank and Trust Company, retiring in 1993.

Bunny was a great cook, loved the beach and tag sales, and always looked forward to seeing friends and family.

Along with her husband, Bunny is survived by a son, Kurt R. Larson of Windsor Locks, her loving granddaughter Julianna J. Larson and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Bunny was predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Astle, and Mary Lou Gibb.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 23rd at 10:00 am in the Swedish Cemetery, 184 Williams Street in Portland.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Bunny’s memory may be made to Journey Found, 60 Hilliard Street, Manchester, CT 06042.  To share memories or send condolences to the family, please visit www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
