Joan (Keith) Fletcher, 80, of Meriden and formerly of Middlebury, wife of the late Pastor Phillip J. Fletcher Jr., passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Apple Rehab due to aspiration pneumonia.
Born in Pamplico, SC, she was the daughter of the late Talmadge and Louisa (Brown) Keith. Joan graduated from Gibbs H.S. in 1960 and moved to CT where she became a Certified Nursing Assistant. Eagar to learn more, she excelled her education and graduated from business Career Institute for information processing and was employed at Scholastic/Grolier books in Danbury CT for 16 yrs. For her love to serve others, she continued working as a CNA part-time at Paradigm Healthcare to the age of 70.
Joan was a Godly woman of Christian based-faith. She wore many hats in the House of God Church in Middletown. She was a First Lady, a minister, and an educator at heart. She was kind and softly spoken. Always wearing a pleasant smile and her laughter was contagious.
Joan enjoyed cooking, singing and spending quality time with her family.
Joan is survived by her son, Phillip J. Fletcher III and his wife Lynn of Plainville; sisters, Leola Madge Shird of Pamplico, SC and Rena Keith of Middletown; two grandchildren, Cameron Fletcher and Shambraie Fletcher; two great grandchildren, Kyree and Gabriella and a niece, Tammy Askew of Middletown.
Along with her husband and parents, Joan was predeceased by her sister, Mary Keith.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 7th at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 346 Butternut Street, Middletown CT at 10:00am-12:00pm for viewing and service following right after.
