Jeffrey John Parmelee, of Middletown, passed away on January 3, 2022 after a battle with leukemia at the age of 66. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Arthur and Genevieve (Krieger) Parmelee.
Jeff was a brilliant musician and composer. He played clarinet at W.W.H.S. and was the substitute organist at Saint Paul Lutheran Church. He was an alumnus of MIT. He worked as a software engineer at Raymond Engineering, Kaman Aerospace, Hamilton Standard and Dion Software Company. These companies made environmental control for NASA’s Apollo Missions, the space shuttles and space suits. Jeff was an avid hiker, birder, and photographer. He enjoyed reading, biology, zoology, astronomy and math. He will be missed.
Jeff is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Frederick Hesse and his nieces and nephews, Christopher, Katharine, Alexander and Jennifer Hesse.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, January 15th from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown with a funeral service to be held at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeff’s memory to the Union of Concerned Scientists or Natural Resources Defense Council.
