Jean (O’Brien) Cummings, 88, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026.  She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Albert.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, on May 23rd, Jean immigrated to Madison, Wisconsin, in 1956 at the age of 19.   It was there she met Al, who was stationed with the U.S. Air Force.  They married in Wisconsin and later settled in Middletown, Connecticut, where they made their home for 67 years.

Jean is survived by her four children—Colette Coleman (Michael), Janet Argenta, Allen Cummings, and Jennifer Ternullo (Joseph). She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Jamie‑Lynn, Devin, Danielle, Joey, and Cailin; and her cherished great‑grandson, Arlo, who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses: Liam O’Brien (Karen) of Orlando, Florida; Frank O’Brien (Angela), Mary McNulty (Anthony), and Eileen Smith (Derek), all of Ireland; as well as her sister‑in‑law, Laurie Cummings of Newington, Connecticut.  Jean also leaves many nieces and nephews whom she loved, across the United States, Ireland, and Cyprus.

Jean spent most of her career in retail, a profession she truly enjoyed.  She loved Classical music and treasured her trips to Tanglewood to enjoy symphony concerts.  Jean also enjoyed shopping - especially during Christmas time, when she wholeheartedly spoiled her children and grandchildren with countless gifts.  She never missed a birthday and made sure every family member felt celebrated.   Above all, Jean cherished time with her grandchildren and took special joy in seeing her great-grandson.

She will always be remembered for her Irish wit, generosity, strength, and the kindness she extended to everyone she met.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
