Jane Bradbury Obituary

Jane Elizabeth (Ferree) Bradbury passed away peacefully at home on December 25, 2020, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Jane was born May 2, 1948, grew up in Middletown, CT and attended Westfield State College in MA. As a young girl, Jane belonged to 4-H and Rainbow Girls. In her early 20’s Jane joined the Middletown Junior Women’s club where she made lifelong friends, and volunteered her time organizing various fundraisers for local charities. Jane’s faith in God also brought her to teaching Sunday school at Church’s she attended over the years, as well as mentoring some of the teenagers she taught. Jane lived in Cromwell, CT for many years where she raised her daughters. It was there where she got involved with the Cromwell Republican Party where she volunteered her time running campaigns and fundraisers. She also dedicated time to coaching girl’s softball in Cromwell with her late friend, Judy Potter. Jane worked various jobs over the years until landing at Aetna. In 1995 she moved to Apopka, FL in order to be closer to her parents in their later years. In 2001 Jane married the love of her life, Jim Bradbury, and she retired from Aetna to live with him in Muskegon, MI during the warmer months. While in Michigan she continued to volunteer her time in many ways, including providing meals for kids whose only meal may have been their school lunch. She loved her life with Jim, traveling and cruising when possible, and in the winter enjoying their time in Pompano Beach, FL. Jane also was a huge UCONN basketball fan and loved watching their games whenever possible. Jane left Michigan shortly after the loss of her husband and decided to come back to her hometown of Middletown where she spent her summers, and continued to spend winters in FL.
If you knew Jane, you knew what a caring and generous person she was. She would make friends wherever she went and people were naturally drawn to her charismatic and fun loving personality.
Her family would like to thank her caregivers, Renata and Julia, for the amazing care and compassion they showed in their care for her. They would also like to thank David and Evelyn Grossman and Bethany Blackmon for also helping with caring for Jane and supporting the family throughout Jane’s illness.
Jane leaves behind her daughter Rebecca (Spencer) Bonelli and her husband Joe of Cromwell CT, her daughter Sara (Spencer) Daniels of Longwood, FL, her grandsons who she adored, Devon Spencer, Jonathan and Spencer Zysk, and Carl (CJ) Daniels, and her fur baby Marsh. Jane also leaves behind an aunt, cousins, several nephews and nieces (some who became her niece and nephew by choice), Jim’s daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and so many amazing friends.
Jane was predeceased by her beloved husband, James Bradbury, her sister Lynn (Ferree) Violissi, her parents Robert and Janice (Treat) Ferree, and her granddaughter Jessica Bonelli. Jane was also predeceased by both of her uncles.
