   James “Glennyboo” Wright, Sr.

Mr. James G. Wright, Sr, affectionally called “Glennyboo, Jim, Shaft, Boo, Glenny” transitioned from this life to life everlasting on March 26, 2026, at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, CT.

Glenny was born on May 10, 1942, the first of 12 children to the late James Lee and Dorothy B Wright. The family moved to Connecticut in 1966.

Glenny received his formal education in the Bedford, VA school system, where he was an exceptional athlete! After graduating in 1963, he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War as part of the 101 st Airborne Division. He was honorably discharged in 1966.

He married the love of his life, Anna H Buttram in 1967. They have been married for 58 years. They have 3 children, Bridget, James (Jimmi) and Victoria.

Glenny worked at EIS Automotive for 35 years and went on to work as a custodian at H-K High School for the last 25 years, reluctantly retiring in June 2024 at the age of 82.

He was a member in good standing with the American Legion Post #206.

In addition to his wife, Anna, he leaves all his love to his children, Bridget Dyke-James, James (Stefanie) Wright Jr and Victoria (Solomon) Wright Mayo.

He leaves all his determination and dreams to his grandchildren. Anthony (Chelsea) Pagano, Sarah, Raven (Neisha) Wright, Antoinette Wright, Aaron Steinberg, Rajeen Mayo, Kya Mayo, Brea James, Ashley Pagano, Jalen Carraway and Julian Carraway and great grandchildren, Toni Wright, Raven Edmond, Aric Pagano, Linda Pagano and Raymond Pagano.

He leaves a lifetime of precious memories to his 3 brothers and 2 sisters, David (Brenda) Wright, Larry Wright, Barry Wright, Ann (Bruce) Moody, Phillis Wright and his special cousin (sister) Alice “Ray”.

He leaves cherished memories to his American Legion Post 206 family and friends. Glenny leaves a beautiful family of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents James and Dorothy, his grandmother, Ma Pinkie Wright, brothers: Thomas, Harold, Clarence and Phillip, sisters: Mary-Alice and Dora, nephews: Harold Jr, Tyrone, Bobby, and Maury (Peanut) and nieces: Tanya, Valerie and Mildred (Peaches).

Glenny, we love you, for love never dies.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 8th at 10:30 am at Cross Street AME Zion Church, 440 West Street, Middletown. A burial will follow in the Sate Veteran Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded.
