Ivory Dell (Bartell) Lewis

Ivory (Bartell) Lewis, 76 years old of Middletown, departed from this life on Thursday morning, January 18, 2024, seven years to the day after losing her beloved husband Nate. They had been married for 51 years.

Ivory was born on March 10, 1947, in Effingham, South Carolina, to the late Jaro and Addie Lou (Keith) Bartell. Ivory was pre-deceased by her siblings Ella M. Hyman, John H. Bartell, Herman (Pal) Bartell, Walter Bartell, James Floyd Bartell, Era M. Jenkins, and Eugene Alexander Bartell.  Ivory is survived by her children Nadine Bond, Gretha Lewis-Hardy and Nathan J. Lewis; her sons-in-law Lorenzo Bond and James Hardy; her grandchildren Ashley Bond, Alexis Lewis, Kayla Patterson, Jalen Lewis, Asia Lewis, and Elijah Cyr; her 5 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27th beginning at 10:30 am at Cross Street AME Zion Church on 440 West Street in Middletown, with a closed casket viewing starting at 10:00am.  Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.   There will be no repast at this time, a “Celebration of Life” gathering will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers please make a tribute donation to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.act.alz.org.  To share memories, or send condolences to the family, please visit www.doolittlefuneralservice.com.
