Holly Williams Schroeder, 74, of Middletown, wife of the late John Schroeder Jr., passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Lesher) Williams.
Holly lived in Middletown most of her life. She graduated Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1964. In 1966, she married John and they went on to raise a family. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church now Faith Lutheran Church and worked at Schaller Subaru for many years.
On April 8th the heart and soul of our family; our mother and grandmother, was called home. Mom had many things that she loved to do; cooking, gardening, reading, singing, listening to music, but her greatest love was her family. There are many things we will miss about her but what stands out most is how she was always there for us, cheering us on when we were faced with a challenge or struggle or sharing in our joys and accomplishments. Though not the most tech savvy person she quickly learned with help from her grandchildren all the things her phone & iPad could do to stay closer to them. She loved being able to reach out to them whenever she wanted. She would often send photos of her most recent drawings or the latest homemade pizza she had made. She had a special connection with each of her granddaughters and they truly brought her so much joy. Mom loved life. She had a wonderful laugh and a warm smile. She was an avid reader and passed down that love to her oldest daughter and granddaughter. She kept up with current politics and was always up for a good debate. She was a long time choir member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and loved using her voice in giving praise to God. She was a huge fan of classical and Celtic music. Many nights were spent relaxing in her chair listening and watching Celtic Woman. Over the years Mom had many cats in her life. She could never imagine being without a cat or two. Her most recent kitties provided much amusement and entertainment during this past year. Mom had a unique ability to quickly turn a stranger into a friend. She listened well and could always be counted on to give good advice. We will all miss her home cooked dinners and watching her sitting on the porch or patio with her glass of wine and a book looking so content. Thank you for all you have done for us Mom. We will miss you terribly but will look for you and your guidance in all that we do.
Holly is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Schroeder of Middletown, Barbara Schnurbush of Wakefield, New Hampshire, grandchildren Libby Hermonat and her husband Connor, Abby Schnurbush and boyfriend Collin Eaton, and Diane Schnurbush, all of Wakefield, New Hampshire, and son-in-law Daniel Schnurbush.
