Harriet Levin, age 86, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday morning, April 9, 2022. Her final days were spent surrounded by her loving family, friends and a wonderful team of healthcare aides and Middlesex Hospice nurses. Harriet was born on September 14, 1935 in Bristol, CT to William and Belle Silver. The eldest of four children, Harriet spent her childhood years paving the way for her three younger brothers - Aaron, Paul and Stephen. Harriet graduated from Bristol High School and later went on to earn her Associates Degree from Dean Junior College. She attended UConn’s School of Nursing before marrying her late husband of nearly 60 years, Jerome ‘Buzzy’ Levin, in 1957. Shortly after settling down with Buzzy in Middletown, CT, Harriet welcomed her two beloved children, Faith and Marc, into the world. Harriet and Buzzy created a beautiful life together surrounded by their adoring family and close-knit group of friends and neighbors. An active member of the local community, Harriet dedicated her time to a number of worthy causes including the Middlesex District Nurse organization, Congregation Adath Israel’s Sisterhood and the Middlesex YMCA Women’s Board where she served as President. Harriet and Buzzy retired to Naples, Florida where she accomplished her lifelong goal of becoming a Silver Life Master in bridge. Throughout her later adult years, Harriet found immense joy in traveling across Europe with Buzzy, volunteering with the Community Foundation of Middlesex County, avidly following professional tennis and relishing in her prized role as the world’s greatest grandmother. Harriet was a true force who lived life according to her own terms. She will be forever missed and cherished by her children, Faith (Craig) Irwin and Marc (Judith) Levin, and grandchildren, Marissa and Billy Irwin. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 13 at 1:00PM at Congregation Adath Israel Cemetery (714 Pine Street, Middletown, Connecticut 06457). Memorial contributions may be made to the Buzzy and Harriet Levin Fund at the Community Foundation of Middlesex County (49 Main Street, Middletown, Connecticut 06457) and Middlesex Hospital Hospice & Palliative Care (28 Crescent Street, Middletown, Connecticut 06457).
