Gwendolyn Faye Simpson

Gwendolyn Faye Simpson, 57, of Middletown, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Wadsworth Glen. Born in Ahoskie, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Margaret (Heckstall) Cockrell of Middletown and of the late James William Simpson.

Gwendolyn lived all her life in Middletown where she graduated from Middletown High School Class of 1986. She worked at the Russell library for many years before transitioning to Middlesex Hospital. She was a former member of the Eastern Star George Crawford Lodge.  Gwendolyn loved reading, watching movies, going to the racetrack and good food.

Along with her mother, Gwendolyn is survived by her daughter Shania Robinson of Middletown; two brothers James (Lisa) Simpson and Tyrone Cockrell, both of Middletown; two sisters, Aretha (Jeffrey) Frazier of Ahoskie, NC and Pamela Simpson of Phoenixville, PA, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 11th at 11:00 AM at Open Door Ministries Church, 76 High Street, Middletown, CT.  Family and friends may call at the church before the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
